Panel to discuss Wilderness Park trails
If you already use the trails inside Wilderness Park or want to know more, plan to attend a Feb. 17 panel discussion sponsored by Friends of Wilderness Park.
With hiker, biker and horse trails interwoven throughout the park’s 1,475 acres, the complex system of trails provides visitors with a wide variety of trail options that are unique to the area.
The free, public event will be 7-9 p.m. at the Lefler Middle School library, 100 S. 48th St. Panel members will include:
* Jim Craig, member of the Great Plains Trails Network, Nebraska Sports Council race director and an organizer of Adventure Racing across the state.
* Beth Thacker, member of the Great Plains Trails Network, and the Nebraska Trails Foundation. She serves on the Pedestrian/Bicycle Advisory Committee and on the subcommittee for Wilderness Park for Lincoln Parks and Recreation.
* Rosina Paolini, vice president of Friends of Wilderness Park and secretary for Citizens for Quality Parks and Trails. She also serves on the Mayor’s Environmental Task Force for Transportation.
The Friends of Wilderness Park is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of Wilderness Park as a unique and highly sensitive biological community and as a natural flood-control buffer for Salt Creek.
